DANCING WITH BISHOP

Conceived by Saskia Hegt

La MaMa theatre, New York, Soho, NY
Washington D.C., Amsterdam, Holland
‘Dancing with Bishop’, is for me about the tension between staying and leaving in all its shapes and forms: the sandpiper runs away from the ocean again and again yet the next moment  she stands still, totally preoccupied,  looking for something; someone you love, leaves you for good; you live in another country and at times  you ponder “Should we have stayed at home and thought of here?” You dream of staying in a beautiful village you visit, yet….. your plane is leaves so…you leave. In my solo I say  ‘Now you are dead and  I am less selfconscious : I love your poems, I love your prose , I love your mind, I love your drawings why because your are an artist you smell, touch, taste, hear, see so much …..owls, turtles, fishes, armadillos and….a sandpiper. I love her poems and decided to make a solo.
